“Back and forth development has been the description of Africa’s journey for centuries. The consequential upheavals manifesting as tribal conflicts, social aberrations and interstate confrontations have been at the top of political, economic and social discussions for as long as l can remember. All this can be attributed to the fact that throughout history, Africa has lacked a Centre of gravity for her civilization. The West, in contrast, for every generation there is a Centre of gravity. This Centre of gravity is the focal point and origin of the cultural practices that the people of a given society always follow. This African problem is partly because of the slave trade, colonialism and Western cultural hegemony that Africa still faces today. It is also exacerbated by the laxity in the education and unwillingness of the young people to talk it with the elders. The Africa Youth Congress is a great leap towards reforming the will in the aspect of discussion but also a step in-support of the creation of a Centre of gravity for the African Civilization. I am therefore looking forward to talking it out with the young generation.”
Rt. Hon. Recca Alitwala Kadaga

Minister of EAC Affairs of the Republic of Uganda
“The integration of Africa is not a dream; it is a process we must nurture every day with commitment and unity. The youth are not just the future of Africa; they are the present. Their voices must be at the center of integration. Africa’s success lies in unity. Together, we can achieve what we cannot do alone The Africa Youth Congress 2025 is a powerful platform that embodies the ideals of African unity, cultural pride, and forward-thinking innovation. Under the theme ‘Africanism: Modernise Along Culture,’ this Pan-African gathering brings together over 1,500 delegates from across Africa and the diaspora leaders, youth, and visionaries who are Pan-Africanists by conviction. It is an occasion to champion the integration of the African continent, foster collaboration, and ignite conversations that honor our heritage while propelling us toward a modern and prosperous future.
We are profoundly grateful for the patronage and steadfast support of His Excellency, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni of Uganda, whose visionary leadership has provided the foundation for this congress to flourish. The Africa Youth Congress has been designed as an annual event, rotating among different nations to symbolize and strengthen the unity of the continent. During this congress, leadership structures will be constituted to guide its vision and continuity, ensuring that the youth remain at the helm of Africa’s transformation.
Additionally, we shall take this opportunity to honor great African leaders whose dedication and sacrifices have paved the way for the Africa we strive to build. This congress is more than an event it is a call to action and a celebration of African resilience, ingenuity, and unity. Together, we are shaping an Africa that thrives on its shared identity and stands tall on the global stage.”

“A few decades ago, there was thinking that Africa would require centuries of rehabilitation and gross structural support to recover from centuries of underdevelopment. This was based on the fact that literate and productive class was quite small in comparison to the total population. Now this has changed and shall continue to change with unwavering efforts to increase literacy and the productive class. This can only be done by providing reason to the potential productive class, the youth. Sadly, our culture which forms the basis of education and transformation is continually compromised by the unnatural morals which undermines several efforts of modernization and wealth creation. This is attributed to the lack of Centre of gravity for the African civilization. The Centre is so vital as it always creates solutions to any cultural changes and pressures from other societies. The Africa Youth Congress intends to be the answer to the fundamental problem as a new Centre of gravity shall be formed here in Uganda under the guidance and support of His excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, a true African father.”
Background:
Africa in the recent past has been considered as a new economic growth frontier with enormous potetial for economic growth and development. However, there seems to be numerous challenges ranging from ideology, poverty, instability and leadership, which limit the African people from exploiting this potential to spur Africa’s development.
Africa’s quest for development remains an unfulfilled dream if we as Africans do not get into the driving seat and facilitate this process as has been clearly been spelt out in Africa Agenda 2063. This focuses on a high standard of living, quality of life and wellbeing for the citizens, well-educated citizenry and skilled labor under-pinned by science, technology and innovation. It is also premised on better health care and transformed African economies.
The principle aim of Agenda 2063, which is the blue print for Africa’s sustainable and economic development, is based on inclusive growth and sustainable development. This is informed by the need for an integrated African Continent that is united and pushing forward the ideals of Pan Africanis as our independence political leaders had in mind while fighting colonialism.
This has been indeed been the core of the African Union with the focus on promoting African Unity and solidarity of African countries, defending state sovereignty, eradicate colonialism, promote international cooperation, coordinate and harmonize member state policies across the Continent.
It is therefore informed by Aspiration No.6 of the AU which resonates on “An Africa whose development is people driven, relying on the potential of African people, especially its women and youth and caring for children. Throughout history, Africa has had a huge disadvantage of the lack of a Centre of Gravity for her civilization. The Centre of gravity is the control area, focal point and origin of the key cultural practices of a society. The lack of the Centre gave way for catastrophes such as slave trade, colonialism and cultural hegemony today. In contrast, the West has always had a Centre and the United States of America serves the purpose today.
The greatest resource and backbone Africa relied on and continues to hold onto for any constructive process is her culture. The diverse ethnicities, races, religious groups and other social groups provide Africa with a rich way of life preventing immoral erosions. African culture has been at the basis of all movements, struggles and efforts of liberation and emancipation. Our culture formed the original message of anti colonial struggles and continues to inform our path towards industrialization and modernization.
Africans as a people borrowing from the UAE must of necessity start on the journey for reclaiming Africa’s development agenda by leveraging on Africa’s comparative advantage that is re enforced with clear ideological orientation and leadership that will push forward the socio-economic development of the African Continent.
The social aspects of cultural values and norms that must be safeguarded require that every effort be made to ensure that there is cultural preservation on the continent of Africa for posterity. The spirit of solidarity and unity is therefore a key driver to this process and thus reawakening the call for stronger push for the agenda for Pan Africanism is instrumental to this cause.
This must therefore be of necessity institutionalized across the continent in guiding the process of breaking the master slave relationship that has continued to undermine the existence of the African race and hindered its fast rapid socio-economic transformation.
The desire to have a borderless African Continent need not be over emphasized, as this will spur rapid economic growth and development. The coming into force of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development under the stewardship of the African Union and the Africa Free Trade Agreement, is an assurance to the people of Africa that the time is ripe for full economic integration, if Africa is to champion its destiny of a global economic base. Building a system that will fast track the future development of Africa by Africans is the way to go in addressing the increasing global challenges of Climate change, Poverty, Peace and Security, stability, the Global economy. The idea of return back home our brothers and sisters in the Diaspora is to leverage on the economic empowerment they have attained over time and refocus their energies on the need to invest back home. As such, the people of Africa and those of African descent wherever they are must pride themselves in the Africa they want and have a conscious outlook on what Africa ought to be and what it is with all the potentials at hand.
The negative territorialization of Africa must therefore be dealt with to allow free movement of goods, services and labor. The Actualization of the African Free Trade Agreement is therefore a low hanging fruit that should be harnessed and taken advantage of in building a sustainable African Economic Base.
The AYC 2024 therefore brings to the fore the urgency to rethink African solutions for Africa’s problems as well as build the momentum for reigniting the Pan African Spirit. This is intended to drive the Continents future development Agenda and counter any forces that do not wish African people well through unrealistic foreign Policies that have kept the Continent backward for centuries.
The need to overhaul the systematic economic super structure is long overdue as well as building an education system that will address Africa’s development challenges to facilitate the regeneration of Africa’s economic potential in terms of economic empowerment, stability, leadership and future investment.
It is against this background that the Africa Youth Congress 2025 is being organized with an understanding that the Youth on the Continent, are ready to stand with the historical leader, His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in the fight creation of African civilization Centre of gravity in Uganda.
